5.SCARS Cat Foster Expression of Interest

Thank you for opening your home to foster with the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge – you can make a huge impact to a cat in need. SCARS would be lost without our valuable foster carers, they provide an environment that enables healing and trust building along with unconditional love while waiting for their forever home. We require all kinds of foster homes, from caring for the sick and injured, kittens and mumma cats to those who just don’t cope in a shelter environment and the elderly.

Fostering cats can be a "time and emotional commitment" - emotional as you'll go through the highs of raising kittens or building confidence in a scared cat to the lows of having to say goodbye when they are ready to be adopted. Letting a foster animal go is giving the best gift to someone who really needs it. When you see the child holding his first kitten, or an elderly person with a cat on their lap, you can't be sad, because they are so happy. Is it easy? No...but it's usually fun, rewarding and enjoyable - and it is certainly always worth it.

SCARS will be with you along the way supporting you in whatever you or your foster cats and kittens need. We provide all their veterinary care here onsite at the refuge, along with training, food, toys, bedding etc.

• Please take the time to fill out the below form with as much information as you can, so we can match you with a cat or kittens that will suit you and your lifestyle.

My own animals must be vaccinated to minimise the spread of contagious disease from my animals to SCARS animals and vice versa. Whilst care is taken when placing animals into foster to minimise the spread of disease, there is an inherent risk when coming into contact with foster animals & the refuge of potential contamination. SCARS animals are not always completely vaccinated when entering foster care and may be at greater risk of contracting illness/ disease from the environment. I understand that contact with foster animals & the refuge carries a risk of potential contamination/disease spread to personal pets, and that it is essential vaccinations are kept up-to-date for the safety of all animals.
